About Healing Guides

In ancient Greece, the sick went to temples with the hope of a cure by a ritual called incubation or “temple sleep.” Asclepius (known in other cultures as Aesculapius), God of Healing, was said to have visited them in their dreams, or even during guided meditations. Priests would then interpret the dream and recommend a remedy, or give advice on how they could be cured.

Asclepius did not begin as a god, however. It is thought that he was an actual historical figure, renowned for his healing abilities. When he and his sons, Machaon and Podalirios, are mentioned in Homer’s The Iliad in approximately the 8th century B.C., they are not gods.  As his “clan” of followers grew, he was elevated to divine status, and temples were built to him throughout the Mediterranean world well into late antiquity.  Hippocrates himself, the embodiment of the ideal physician, was educated as a member of the 20th generation of the cult of Aesculapius.  His primary attribute, the physician’s staff with an Asclepian snake wrapped around it, is still used as a symbol of medicine and healing in today’s medical world, including the World Health Organization.

Our Guides manifest on many different levels and help with every possible need (not want) we may have. Healing Guides, Reiki Guides, Spirit Guides, Angels and such, will have no true reality for you until you have personally felt their presence and have communicated with them directly. Once you have, you will discover that new doorways of wisdom and knowledge have been opened to you.

There are those who will vehemently argue that Healing Guides are “New Age” concepts.  However, as you have no doubt noticed from the above mention of Asclepius, there’s nothing “New Age” about people/healers working with Healing Gods… or Spirit Guides. Shamans have done so for tens of thousands of years, and across cultures from European (Celtic), Aboriginal, Native American, Chinese, Hindu, and so on.  Those who have studied Reiki know that Usui’s Attunement method, Reiju, is a technique for “sensing energy.” It’s been said that Reiju accelerates or enhances spiritual and intuitive awareness. If we can sense energy, then it stands to reason that we can also sense “spiritual energy” – even in the form of Healing Guides.

This information is being presented to you for your consideration. Use it… don’t use it… it’s entirely up to you. However, if you do decide that you want to make use of this information and you’ve never worked with your Guides before, then a formal ceremony/ritual will help you to get in the right frame of mind. Once you are comfortable working with your Guides, a simple thought is all you will need… they’re always with us. There are different meditation methods used for this, so you will need to do some research and find a meditation technique that will work best for you.
