Legit naturopaths deserve a place in health care

(KRT) - As a critical-care specialist, Marcy Zwelling-Aamont is incredulous that naturopaths, of all people, have been appointed to the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee. What's next, federally funded witchcraft?

Naturopaths, or natural healers, believe that tar-coated tampons, rather than antibiotics, can treat pelvic inflammatory disease, Zwelling-Aamont charged during a recent American Medical Association policy meeting in Chicago. Naturopaths, she went on, make a mockery of "evidence-based science."

Zwelling-Aamont, representing the California Medical Society delegation, urged her colleagues to support their resolution to boot the two naturopathic practitioners off the 100-member committee, which recommends what medical services should be covered by Medicare.

"Where did science go?" she implored. "Where did professionalism go? I'm insulted I have to even ask they be removed."

whew!!! I am glad they cleared up that Tar on the Tampon thingie for me. I knew that was going to be a real nightmare starter for me...lol!!!!
