I have pain in my right shoulder when I extend my arm 90 degrees from my body, or if I reach behind myself to get something, like behind the drivers seat. It's a very intense pain that goes all the way down my arm but will eventually go away, until the next time I move it the wrong way. Any ideas Bobin?

ah ha! I think I found my answer on Web.md . Looks like I may rotator cuff problems and what I am already doing for it is okay. It even mentions not reaching in the back seat of a car...lol !! Oh well at least I know now.

yeah, rotator cuff spasm, dislocated shoulder, and/or bursitis.

<< if I reach behind myself to get something >>

this movement forces the shoulder to move out of it's socket slightly. that causes the shoulder muscles to tigten up, and go into spasm to protect the area from further unjury. the rotator cuff is one of these muscles.

<< that goes all the way down my arm >>

when the rotator cuff goes into spasm it can press on the brachial plexus. so can the scalene and pect minor. rotator cuff spasms, if severe, can have the same pain pattern as a heart attack.

constant shoulder irritation can cause bursitis. bursitis is a symptom of a sholder problem. bursae do not get inflammed for no reason.
