Traditional healing study gets $333,994 Indian elder care project wins grant

OLYMPIA -- The National Institutes of Health and National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine have awarded a $333,994 grant to the Olympia-based Center for World Indigenous Studies for an alternative medicine study.

Dr. Leslie Korn will head the American Indian Elder Care Health Study, which will compare the effectiveness of polarity therapy with time off from caregiving duties for people who care for elders with memory loss or Alzheimer's disease.

Polarity therapy uses touch to facilitate the free flow of energy through the body and promote self-healing.
