"You cannot escape the results of your thoughts... Whatever your present environment may be, you will fall, remain or rise with your thoughts, your vision, your ideal. You will become as small as your controlling desire, as great as your dominant aspiration." -- James Allen

but we can still accomplish one or the other, or both, if we give some thought to the benefits/consequences of remaining in that mindset. I guess it's just easier to find comfort in that negative energy zone. Any idea why?

I don't think it's a matter of finding comfort in a negative energy zone. I think we would rather just STAY IN our comfort zones - whatever that may be. Old habits do die hard.

I think having the negative feelings are normal and appropriate. It's that point where we have to move out of that zone that becomes the problem. Where is that point? When do you make that move? I know there is no clear cut answer to these questions, that each situation and person is going to be different. I just realized to.. that I have been tossing grief in the same negative energy bag with anger as far as this topic goes. Now I am not sure it belongs there.

Why wouldn't it belong there? Grief and anger go hand in hand. And I know from experience what happens when we don't allow ourselves to FULLY feel the anger and sadness. In a short time span, I went through a divorce (ending a 25 year relationship... there's bound to be some grief involved) and 3 deaths (all people I dearly loved). I don't think my mind/body was able to deal with all that grief in such a short time span... many, many times I just shut down. To this day, I have yet to allow myself to fully feel the anger, or fully grieve... and let me tell ya, I'm definitely paying the price.

Really? I don't think I have felt anger with grief, not yet anyway. Who or what are you angry at? and why?

We ask God to forgive us for our evil thoughts and evil temper, but rarely, if ever ask Him to forgive us for our sadness.
