Homeopathic Care

Homeopathy, derived from the Greek word homoios means "similar" and pathos, meaning "suffering." Homeopathy uses natural remedies to boost the body's own healing ability. Although it was first described by Hippocrates 2,500 years ago, Homoeopathy as it is practiced today evolved 200 years ago. Homeopathic remedies are generally dilutions of natural substances from plants, minerals, and animals and is based on the principle of "like cures like."

A basic difference between conventional medical therapy and homeopathy is that in conventional therapy, the aim often is to control the illness through regular use of medical substances, even if the medication is nothing more than prescription drugs. Often times, if the medication is withdrawn the person returns to illness. Therefore, there has been no cure. A person who takes a pill for headache, depression, or any health condition every day is not undergoing a cure but is only controlling the symptoms. Homeopathy's aim is the cure.

Homeopathic medicines are drug products made by homeopathic pharmacies in accordance with the processes described in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States the official manufacturing manual recognized by the FDA. The substances may be made from plants, minerals, or animals such as the venom of a number of poisonous snakes. They can also be made from chemical drugs such as penicillin or streptomycin. These substances are diluted carefully until little of the original remains. Such infinitesimal quantities are considered by some to be nothing more than placebos, however, the clinical experience of homeopathy shows that the infinitesimal dose is indeed effective for many health conditions.
