Once again the “Big Hospital Finally Telling the Truth About Cancer” hoax is being posted all over blogs (some of which are supposedly “news” blogs) and circulated via email. One site that posted about this hoax just 3 days ago (May 27, 2014) caught me by surprise, considering that the CEO and Founder of this site is a Doctor; Dr. Leslie Hewitt, DC. A reputable Chiropractor on a reputable website. I would think that someone would have checked this false claim out, especially since it specifically mentions Johns Hopkins, before helping to spread a hoax that Johns Hopkins has been trying to put a stop to.
Information falsely attributed to Johns Hopkins called, “CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS” describes properties of cancer cells and suggests ways of preventing cancer. Johns Hopkins did not publish the information, which often is an email attachment, nor do we endorse its contents.
While the Cancer Update from John Hopkins that’s being spread around does contain some common sense health tips, it sorely lacks in way of references to actual statements made by Johns Hopkins, or anyone else, for that matter.
When it comes to health matters, sometimes a hoax can be dangerously wrong, and more so if it mentions a well-known name such as Johns Hopkins.
I’m sure the Patch will be pulling down that article once they realize that it is indeed a hoax.
