Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wis., didn’t have the guts to sign the bill requiring ultrasounds for women seeking an abortion in public. Instead he signed it over the Holiday weekend when no one was watching. The bill, which takes effect today, requires women seeking an abortion to undergo an ultrasound and barring doctors without admitting privileges at local hospitals from performing abortions. This bill make Wisconsin the ninth state in the country to require women to receive a medically unnecessary ultrasound procedure before an abortion.
Supporters of the bill mistakenly believe that women would decide to carry a fetus to term if an ultrasound allowed them to see the unborn child.
Regardless of how politicians try to justify their actions, women have woken up to the fact that the true intent of Republican Governors across the country to passing these measures is to close as many abortion clinics as possible in the hope that they’ll eventually be able to overturn Roe v. Wade. Contrary to popular belief held by these politicians, the vast majority of women are not stupid.
